Organization Overview & Sustainable Practices
The Ann Arbor Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is a nonprofit organization, which provides residents and visitors to the area information on events, history, accommodation, and much more in and around Ann Arbor. Their endeavors include the reduction of paper through the use of electronic documents, e-mails and the reuse of folders, packing material and utensils. The group also recycles white paper, packaging materials, glass, cardboard and plastic. They complete the recycling loop by purchasing recycled content products such as copier paper, envelopes, file folders and toilet paper. With only nine employees, new hires are introduced to the policies. They have also reduced energy use by employing building setbacks when the building is unoccupied and placing external lights on timers.
