As a craft gallery representing more than 400 artists and craftspeople, we're proud of our long history of both participating in recycling efforts in-store, as well as representing artists whose work is made from recycled materials. Our first show of this type, titled "Re", was put together about 12 years ago. Over the years the interest in goods made from recycled materials has grown. Today, many artists working "green" are represented throughout the store in areas of glassware, garden art, paper products, home accents, furniture, jewelry and gifts. These works are featured both in-store and as part of our web site and email campaigns.
In our daily operations we reuse shipping boxes & packing materials to such an extent that we don't purchase any packing materials, and at times have enough to share with neighboring businesses. We're in the process of replacing gallery lighting with compact fluorescent bulbs, and have recently had an energy efficiency audit performed in an effort to reduce our footprint. We have encouraged studios and suppliers to convert to paperless invoicing, reducing both mailed and faxed paperwork.
