2015 Ann Arbor Art Fair Food Licensing Information

**NEW REQUIREMENTS - READ CAREFULLY!**

To serve food in Michigan, you must apply for a license and be inspected. Determine which option applies to you and read carefully to see what you need to do. If you have questions, contact Washtenaw County Environmental Health at (734) 222-3800.

1.  I did not operate at the Ann Arbor Art Fair in 2014:

You are required to attend an in-person food safety training session. These free sessions last one hour and cover booth construction and safe food handling practices. If you have not submitted the Michigan Temporary Food Service Establishment License Application prior to the training, you will be required to fill out an application and pay the license fee at the training. Our staff will be there to review your proposed menu and operation. You must contact Angela Parsons at (734) 222-3869 or parsonsa@ewashtenaw.org to register for the training. There are two training options:

      • Blake Transit Center
        2nd Floor Conference Room
        328 S. 5th Ave., Ann Arbor, MI
        Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
      • Michigan Union
        Pond Room – 2nd floor
530 S. State St., Ann Arbor, MI
        Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.

2.  I did operate at the Ann Arbor Art Fair in 2014:

We encourage you to take the online food safety training. You do not need to turn in the certificate from the online training. You are not required to attend the in-person training as long as we receive your application before July 14, 2015. You must have an inspection and be approved before serving food.

3.  I have a Mobile or Special Transitory Food Unit (STFU) License:

If you will be following your approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and serving food from your approved menu, you do not need to apply for a Temporary Food Service Establishment License or attend training. If you are an STFU, you must submit an STFU Intent to Serve form to the Environmental Health office and indicate whether or not you will be requesting an inspection. Our fax number is 734-222-3930 and our mailing address is Washtenaw County Environmental Health, 705 N. Zeeb Rd., P.O. Box 8645, Ann Arbor, MI 48107-8645.

4.  I have a Restaurant Food Service License:

If you are just serving food outside that you prepare or cook inside your restaurant, you do not need to apply for a Temporary Food Service Establishment License or attend training. However, if you will be cooking or preparing foods outdoors (chopping, blending, etc.), you will need to apply for a Temporary Food Service Establishment License and have an inspection before serving food.
