Online Records & FOIA Requests - Environmental Health & Building Inspection

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is a state law that regulates and sets requirements for the disclosure of public records by all "public bodies" in the state. Many of our records, and records of other State agencies, are available online to the public.

Online Public Records

  • MapWashtenaw - Parcel maps and property data is available from Washtenaw County through an interactive map viewer, including parcels, aerial photos, topography, schools and natural features.
  • OnBase - Online database that allows you to access well, septic system, building inspection and soil erosion permits that have been issued in Washtenaw County. The best way to search this database for inspections is to enter just the street number, and then click "Search."
  • Restaurant Inspection Reports - Links to Washtenaw County restaurant inspection reports, University of Michigan food service inspection reports, and grocery store inspection reports for the state of Michigan.
  • Michigan Environmental Mapper - Online records of environmental contamination sites in Michigan.
  • Michigan Groundwater Mapping Project - Online interactive map viewer and groundwater information database.
  • Water Well Viewer - Online records of Michigan wells.

FOIA Requests

If you would still like more information not available through these online resources, please complete a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. You will be charged a fee for reproduction and copying costs, unless proof of inability to pay because of indigency is provided. If the scope of this request requires more than fifteen (15) minutes of labor, a fee will be charged for the search, examination, review, and, if appropriate, the deletion and separation of exempt from nonexempt information as provided in Section 14 of the Freedom of Information Act. The fee is being charged because the failure to do so would result in unreasonably high costs to Washtenaw County. A fee may also be waived if Washtenaw County determines the request is in the public interest.
