In the early morning hours of June 22, 2015, a severe storm approached from the northwest bringing 60 MPH winds and an EF1 tornado.

21:17     TORNADO WATCH ISSUED BY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.

21:35     EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER PARTIALLY ACTIVATED WITH 5 PERSONNEL.

Tuesday, June 23, 2015:

00:29     SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING ISSUED AND SKYWARN SPOTTER NETWORK WAS ACTIVATED.

01:11     FLOOD ADVISORY ISSUED.

01:32     TORNADO WARNING ISSUED FOR SOUTHERN WASHTENAW COUNTY.  ALERT SYSTEMS WERE ACTIVATED INCLUDING OUTDOOR WARNING SIRENS.

01:45     THE FOLLOWING RESIDENTIAL ADDRESSES WERE REPORTED AS DAMAGED FROM A POSSIBLE TORNADO:

6501 Kothe, 6649 Esch, 6831 Ernst, 11444 Bethel Church, and 11810 Bethel Church; located in Freedom Township approximately 3 miles north northeast of Manchester.

Several downed trees and power lines were also reported in the area.  Responding public safety personnel accounted for all affected residents and called for utilities, Road Commission and American Red Cross support.

02:01     TORNADO WARNING CANCELLED.

03:30     PARTIAL ACTIVATION OF THE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER WAS TERMINATED.

Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Manchester Township Fire Department, Huron Valley Ambulance, Washtenaw County Road Commission, American Red Cross.

NWS DAMAGE SURVEY HAS CONFIRMED A TORNADO OCCURRED WITH A TRACK BEGINNING 3 MILES NORTH OF MANCHESTER AND ENDING ABOUT 5 MILES NORTHEAST OF MANCHESTER IN WASHTENAW COUNTY.

SURVEY SUMMARY: AN NWS STORM SURVEY INDICATED TORNADO DAMAGE BEGINNING JUST EAST OF M-52 AND NORTH OF BETHEL CHURCH ROAD. THE TORNADO TRACKED TOWARD THE EAST PARALLEL TO BETHEL CHURCH ROAD AND LIFTED JUST EAST OF LIMA CENTER ROAD. A CONSISTENT PATH OF TREE DAMAGE WAS IDENTIFIED BETWEEN HOMESTEADS. DAMAGE TO ROOFING AND SIDING MATERIAL OF HOMES OCCURRED ALONG THE PATH. PEAK INTENSITY OCCURRED AT BETHEL CHURCH AND ERNST ROAD WHERE THE GARAGE OF A HOME WAS SWEPT FROM ITS FOUNDATION.
