Beware of fake emails requesting a H1N1 vaccination profile
There are a growing number of H1N1 vaccination-related scams including "phishing" emails and fraudulent websites set up for the purpose of ID theft. The messages appear to come from the Center for Disease Control (CDC). They do not.
An example of the Phishing email follows:
You have received this email because of the launching of a State Vaccination H1N1 Program. You need to create your personal H1N1 Vaccination Profile on the cdc.gov site. This vaccination is not obligatory but each person that has reached the age of 18 has to have his/her own personal vaccination profile on the cdc.gov site. This profile is to be created for both the vaccinated people and the not-vaccinated ones.
The message continues by asking users to click on a link. DO NOT RESPOND. These emails are fake. The CDC has NOT implemented a program requiring registration on its Web site.
If you are vaccinated, any required information is collected at the time of vaccination by your health care provider.
