CDBG-R Program

2008-09 Annual Action Plan Substantial Amendments for Washtenaw County and the City of Ann Arbor

Notice is hereby given that The Office of Community Development pursuant to U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development regulation is seeking public comments on the substantial amendments to the 2008-09 Annual Action Plans for Washtenaw County and the City of Ann Arbor. The proposed amendments reflect the use of CDBG Recovery Funding (CDBG-R) from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, allocated to the County and the City.

Under ARRA, the County expects to receive a one-time allocation of $308,567 in CDBG-R funding while the City will receive $287,298 in CDBG-R funding. The Act requires the City and County give priority to projects that can be started within 120 days from grant agreement. The CDBG-R funding guidelines allow for the use of the money to conduct public facility and infrastructure improvements. Up to 10 percent of the CDBG-R allocation will be used for program administration and planning/design. Should HUD not approve the activities proposed in the Substantial Amendments, the funds will be made available for other eligible "shovel ready" activities.

All interested persons are invited to comment on the County and City proposed FY 2008 Annual Plan Substantial Amendments for the CDBG-R allocations. The 7-day public comment period begins on May 25, 2009 and ends on May 31, 2009. The proposed amendments will be available at the Office of Community Development, 110 N. Fourth Avenue, Suite 300, Ann Arbor, MI 48107 and on the department website at:
