Housing and Human Services Advisory Board

In January 2007, Ann Arbor City Council approved the creation of the Housing and Human Services Advisory Board (HHSAB) to replace two existing citizen boards: the Housing Policy Board and the Community Development Executive Committee.  The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires communities that receive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME funds to have a citizen participation process.  For the City of Ann Arbor, this is accomplished through public hearings, meetings with community members, and the HHSAB.  The HHSAB provides policy direction to the City Council and the Office of Community Development on housing and human service needs of low income residents of the City.
