Washtenaw County is pairing up with the Parkridge Summer Festival Committee to host its third annual Community Day offering food, entertainment, and family fun while making essential resources available to county residents.

The 2014 Community Day festival will be held on Saturday, August 23, 11:00 am – 6:00 pm at Parkridge Park, which is adjacent to the Perry Child Development Center and behind Parkridge Community Center.

Non-profit agencies, local county departments along with DTE, Comcast Cable and Keybank will be on hand between 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm providing valuable information regarding free and/or low cost programs and services, including:

Additional activities include a car show, unique merchandise vendors, kids’ face painting, gamesfood, and live entertainment featuring several of the area’s most talented bands, choirs, and solo artists, plus the Washtenaw County Balling Series All-Star Saturday.

The Parkridge Summer Fest was started in 2011 to build awareness about the many programs available at the Parkridge Community Center (591 Armstrong) while re-energizing a forgotten festival tradition that brings communities together and encourages networking for positive change.

“Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development (OCED) is proud to be involved with such a powerful and successful outreach effort” said OCED director Mary Jo Callan. “Community Day is an excellent way to connect residents to valuable resources while fostering growth between members of the community”.

All residents and neighbors that live beyond the county borders are encouraged to attend the event and learn more about the many resources provided at the Parkridge Community Center and throughout Washtenaw County.

For volunteer opportunities at this event or at the Parkridge Community Center contact the Parkridge Summer Festival Committee at 734-276-4832.
