Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP)

Please note:

We have closed the RFP #6193.  If you are requesting to be Re-Credentialed as an LIP, please contact  Rhonda Hall @ hallr@ewashtenaw.org for an application.

The Washtenaw Community Health Organization (WCHO) is responsible for credentialing all Licensed Independent Practitioners (LIP) who practice in the Community Mental Health Partnership of Southeast Michigan (CMHPSM). The CMHPSM is an affiliation of the community mental health boards in Lenawee, Livingston, Monroe, and Washtenaw Counties.

    • Your completed credentialing/re-credentialing application and supporting documents together with the following information: background check, DHS central registry clearance, professional reference/peer review/CMH review, and insurance information will be reviewed by the Credentialing Committee on a monthly basis.
    • With recommendation from the Committee, the Local Board will vote to approve your appointment/re-appointment, for a two-year period, to the CMHPSM provider panel as a licensed independent practitioner (LIP).
    • You will be notified in writeing once you have completed the credentialing process, along with the County or Counties where you desire to work.   Contract staff from that county will assist you in finalizing the contractual process.
    • Additionally, because you have been appointed to a regional panel, if the need for your services arises in another county within the CMHPSM, you will be contacted to determine your interest in contracting with that county as well.
    • Please note, however, that membership on the CMHPSM provider panel is no way a guarantee you will be awarded a contract.
