Community Corrections Division of the Trial Court

Community Corrections is a division of the Washtenaw County Trial Court responsible for administration of jail and prison diversion programs funded under Public Act 511 (PA511) of the 1988 Michigan Public Acts.

What does Community Corrections do?

Community Corrections Mission is to:

  1. Reduce prison commitments for non-violent offenders by funding community based prison alternatives, such as residential treatment.
  2. Prioritize jail beds for dangerous offenders and reduce jail crowding by diverting non-violent offenders into cost-effective, credible treatment alternatives, such as electronic monitoring or intensive supervision, or pre-trial supervised release.
  3. Reduce recidivism by improving treatment effect and offender accountability by matching client risk and needs to treatment programs, support services, intensive supervision and frequent drug testing.
