Substance Abuse Treatment Program

As part of the Washtenaw County Juvenile Drug Court Program, substance abuse treatment services are provided at the Youth Center in a collaborative partnership with Dawn Farm and the Washtenaw County Trial Court-Family Division.  The substance abuse treatment is a four-phase intervention program for court involved youth whose charges are non-violent in nature and who require intensive substance abuse treatment. There is a residential treatment component lasting approximately three months, an intensive outpatient component lasting approximately four months and an aftercare component lasting approximately four months.  The model for Juvenile Drug Court includes frequent court appearances, random drug testing and individual, group & family counseling.

Residential Treatment Program

Consists of three levels: residential, intensive out patient and after care.  Youth are housed at the Washtenaw County Youth Center Juvenile Detention facility for a period of 3-4 months. Treatment focuses on a complete assessment of the youth and family, engagement of the youth and the family, motivating change, developing an individualized and family recovery plan, participation in group therapy, and preparing youth to return to the community.

After Care

Using an individualized aftercare plan, youth are expected to work or attend school, engage in appropriate recreation, follow household rules and to engage in activities that support sobriety.
