Visitation

Visitation for youth is limited to parents or guardians whose rights have not been terminated.  Visitation will be denied to parents/ guardians if the Court record/ social file contains documentation that visitation is detrimental to the youth.  Only two people ages 21 and over may visit. Visitation hours are:

   
                    Wednesday Schedule
         1st Registration Period:   4:10pm to 4:20pm
         1st Visitation Period:       4:20pm to 4:50pm
         2nd Registration Period:  4:50pm to 5:00pm
         2nd Visitation Period:      5:00pm to 5:30pm

               Saturday and Sunday Schedule
         1st Registration Period:   1:00pm to 1:15pm
         1st Visitation Period:       1:15pm to 1:45pm
         2nd Registration Period:  1:45pm to 2:00pm
         2nd Visitation Period:      2:00pm to 2:30pm

Daily Programing and Residential Treatment

Youth are involved in structured programs and daily living activities throughout their non-sleeping hours.  The daily schedule includes chores, school, meals, personal hygiene, physical recreation, life skills modules, decision-making training, and positive leisure activities.  Trained staff supervise and facilitate all activities with youth.  We include through other partnerships additional expertise on youth-related topics.  Some of our partners include, MSU Extension, Planned Parenthood, U of M Project Community, U of M Street Law, and others.

Rational Behavior Training (RBT) 

Rational Behavior Training is a way of looking at how you react to situations and what happens after that. The way you see a situation leads you to certain feelings, and these feelings lead to certain actions.  The 36 page handbook listed below is a way for the youth to identify how they feel after certain situations and shows them how to have more controled responses.  For more information on the RBT program click here.
    

School Program

The school program is a year-round, on site, fully accredited educational program staffed by the Washtenaw Intermediate School District (WISD).  Classes include core academics following the Michigan curriculum guidelines, physical education, and academic work geared to each youth’s specific learning needs.  The program also offers GED study if it is appropriate for an individual student.  All teachers are special education certified and there is a full-time WISD school social worker on site.  Youth may earn high school credits while attending the school program and those credits fully transfer back to the youth’s home school.

Food Service

On-Site Children's Services Staff provide three nutritional meals and two snacks per day for youth in our facility.  All meals are planned according to the USDA guidelines for Child Nutrition Programs (traditional food based menu planning system).  Our current focus is to reduce sodium by 16% as well as Cholesterol by 33%. Presently, we are introducing whole grain items into the menu, replacing some refined carbohydrates.  These include whole wheat: pasta, rice, bread, rolls, and bagels. Special dietary needs are addressed on an individual basis for youth needing an adapted menu for medical or religious reasons.
