March 31, 2003 Register of Deeds Press Release
Lawrence Kestenbaum, Washtenaw County Clerk/Register of Deeds, would like to announce effective March 31, 2003 , the cost for recording land records will increase to $14.00 for the first page and $3.00 for each additional page.
The State Legislature has prescribed that $5.00 from the total recording fee for each land record be deposited into an “automation fund” for the local Register of Deeds Office. Funds generated will be used to update the technology in the Register of Deeds Office to better serve our customers. In 2007, Registers of Deeds throughout the state must prepare a report to the legislature addressing the progress that has been made in improving access to land records.
