Seeking Citizen Applicants for Four (4) Volunteer Boards

WASHTENAW COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners is looking for citizens to volunteer for a slate of positions with the various Boards, Committees and Commissions. The Board of Commissioners will make these appointments at their upcoming session on July 10, 2013 at 6:45 p.m. in the Board Room, Administration Building, 220 North Main Street, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Individuals interested in applying should submit a letter of interest and resume, including a home address, to Peter Simms, County Clerk’s office, P.O. Box 8645, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48107. Those resumes received by July 5, 2013 will be submitted to the Board of Commissioners for its consideration on July 10, 2013. The appointments will be effective as of January 1, 2013. These appointments include:
Ø Historic District Commission – The Board of Commissioners is looking to fill one position, representing the general public for the remainder of a three-year terms expiring December 31, 2015. The Commission ensures that efforts are made to safeguard the heritage of Washtenaw County by identifying and preserving sites, structures, objects and other resources of historical, cultural, archaeological, economic, political, or architectural significance. Individuals who have demonstrated their interest in Washtenaw County's history and their ability to render valuable services in historical and civic matters, especially representatives of educational and civic organizations, are invited to apply.
Ø Police Services Steering Committee– The Board of Commissioners is looking to fill one position representing Non-contracting Area Leadership. The Police Services Steering Committee was established in 2006 to discuss ongoing contract police services issues.
Ø Washtenaw County/City of Ann Arbor Community Corrections Advisory Board – The Board of Commissioners is looking to fill two positions as follows: one member representing Communications Media for a three-year term expiring December 31, 2016, and one member to represent the Service Area for the remainder of a three-year terms expiring December 31, 2013. The Board was established in 1991 and is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, assessing, and evaluating Community Corrections programs in Washtenaw County.
Ø Washtenaw County Food Policy Council – The Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to fill three positions, one representing Nutrition for the remainder of a term expiring December 31, 2013. The other available positions have two-year terms expiring December 31, 2014 and are as follows: one representing Education, one representing Food Service. The Food Policy Council was established in 2012 to develop a healthy community and thriving local food system.
