Seeking Citizen Volunteers for Washtenaw County Boards and Commissions






The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners is looking for citizens to volunteer for a slate of positions with the various Boards, Committees and Commissions. The Board of Commissioners will make these appointments at its upcoming session on March 21, 2018 at 6:45 p.m. in the Board Room, Administration Building, 220 North Main Street, Ann Arbor, Michigan.


Individuals interested in applying should submit a letter of interest and resume, including a home address, to the Washtenaw County Clerk’s office, Attention: Appointments, P.O. Those resumes received by MARCH 9, 2018 will be submitted to the Board of Commissioners for its consideration on March 21, 2018. The appointments will become effective March 21, 2018. These appointments include:


  • Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Commission – The Board of Commissioners is looking to fill (3) positions representing the General Public, for three-year terms expiring December 31, 2020. The Commission conducts public hearings relating to EMS matters when deemed necessary; promulgates and administrates regulations pursuant to Washtenaw County’s EMS standards; plans, monitors, and evaluates the EMS system in concert with the Washtenaw-Livingston Medical Control Authority Board; and plans, monitors, and evaluates the pre-hospital aspects of the Washtenaw County Emergency Action Guidelines.


  • Local Emergency Planning Committee – The Board of Commissioners is looking to fill 12 positions representing the following: Law Enforcement (1); Local Environment (2); Elected State (1); Elected Local (1); Transportation (1); Owner/Operator of Title III Facility (2); Agricultural (1); Agricultural (Farm Bureau) (1); Broadcast Media (1); Civil Defense/Emergency Management (1); and Education (1), with all terms expiring December 31, 2020. The Local Emergency Planning Committee was established in 1986, to serve as an emergency planning district under Title III of the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986. The purpose of this committee is to report on hazardous and toxic chemicals in the community as it pertains to the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act of 1986. The committee meets on a quarterly basis.


  • Washtenaw County/City of Ann Arbor Community Corrections Advisory Board - The Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants to fill one (1) position representing Communications Media for a three-year term expiring December 31, 2019. The purposes of the CCAB is to serve as a regional board in evaluating, identifying and developing community corrections programs, address criminal justice issues, take other action deemed appropriate and necessary in this arena, and develop a regional comprehensive community corrections plan and apply for funding to the Office of Community Corrections to finance and implement the plan.
