Deadline Extended for Board Applications
The application period has been extended for three county boards. Interested residents have until Sunday, December 1 to submit applications for volunteer positions on the Historic District Commission, Food Policy Council or Southeast Michigan Regional Transit Authority.
WASHTENAW COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners is looking for citizens to volunteer for a slate of positions with the various Boards, Committees and Commissions. The Board of Commissioners will make these appointments at their upcoming session on December 4, 2013 at 6:45 p.m. in the Board Room, Administration Building, 220 North Main Street, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Individuals interested in applying should submit a letter of interest and resume, including a home address, to Peter Simms, County Clerk’s office, P.O. Box 8645, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48107. Those resumes received by December 1, 2013 will be submitted to the Board of Commissioners for its consideration on December 4, 2013. The appointments will become effective January 1, 2014. These appointments include:
Ø Historic District Commission – The Board of Commissioners is looking to fill three positions total, two representing the general public for three-year terms expiring December 31, 2016 and one representing attorney for the remainder of a three-year term expiring December 31, 2015. The Commission seeks to promote the establishment and use of historic districts, markers and other programs for the education, pleasure and welfare of the people of this county. Individuals who have demonstrated their interest in Washtenaw County's history and their ability to render valuable services in historical and civic matters, especially representatives of educational and civic organizations, are invited to apply.
Ø Southeast Michigan Regional Transit Authority – The Board of Commissioners is looking to fill one (1) position representing Resident for a three-year term expiring December 31, 2016. The Regional Transit Authority was established in accordance with Public Act 387 of 2012. Applicants should have substantial business, financial, or professional experience relevant to the operation of a corporation or public transportation system
Ø Washtenaw County Food Policy Council – The Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to fill eight positions, one (1) representing Waste Management, one (1) representing Nutrition, one (1) representing Food Manufacturer and Distributor, one (1) representing Economic Development, one (1) representing Education, one (1) representing Rural Agriculture, one (1) representing Food Service. The available positions above have two-year terms expiring December 31, 2015. There is one (1) position representing Emergency Food System for the remainder of a term expiring 12/31/14. The Food Policy Council was established in 2012 to develop a healthy community and thriving local food system.
