Dan Smith (R)

Commissioner Dan Smith was elected in November 2010 and assumed office in January 2011; he previously served on the Northfield Township Board of Trustees.  Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Calvin College and a Master’s from Michigan State University; he is a Principal Software Engineer at Autodesk (makers of AutoCAD), previous employers include Schlumberger CAD/CAM (MDSI/Applicon) and Bristol Technology.  He enjoys boating, running, biking and playing his trumpet with the Washtenaw Community Concert Band.  Commissioner Smith resides in Whitmore Lake.
