Yousef Rabhi (D)

On January 5^th, 2011, Yousef Rabhi began his first term as Washtenaw County Commissioner representing District 11. The 11^th district includes most of southeastern and central Ann Arbor and is unique in that it combines student neighborhoods with a diverse mix of residential housing, commercial operations and government establishments. 

Commissioner Rabhi hopes his term will be characterized by a deep commitment to community engagement. He has emphasized the importance of working with citizens of all backgrounds to have diverse perspectives on important issues. Commissioner Rabhi is dedicated to engaging the citizens of the 11^th district, including encouraging citizens to participate in his upcoming civic engagement forums. Commissioner Rabhi is committed to providing a positive and efficient work environment for County staff. He recognizes that their expertise, experience and dedication will be essential as the County faces a troubling budget year ahead.

Local economies, much like the national and state economies, have fallen on hard times. Commissioner Rabhi believes that Washtenaw County must work to build a strong future with a resilient economy. He believes that investment in local businesses, reinvigorating local food production, boosting alternative energy generation, and ensuring that all citizens have an equal opportunity to succeed is critical to the continued success of Washtenaw County. Although the fiscal environment of today is turbulent, Commissioner Rabhi feels that through hard work and community partnerships, the future will be bright.
