I.    Welcome and introductions            Kerry Sheldon, All            9:00 a.m.

  • Describe the pre-work accomplished to date, and the impetus behind that pre-work
  • Review agenda, housekeeping notes, and norms
  • Confirm the desired outcomes for today’s discussion: (1) To begin the conversation about individual and collective priorities that will guide the search for the next County Administrator; and (2) To gain consensus on immediate next steps required to advance the search process.

 

 

II.    BOC priorities                    Felicia Brabec, All            9:30 a.m.

  • Please review the previous documents describing the Board of Commissioners’ articulated priorities
  • Individually, please consider these priorities and sort into a grid of Urgent vs. Important in the context of the overarching question: What is the Board’s direction on where the organization should be headed over the next five to ten years?  (15 min.)
  • In groups of three, come to consensus on where each priority belongs  (30 min.)
  • Report-out and discuss (45 min., with Kerry facilitating)

 

 

III.    Desired leadership qualities            Kerry Sheldon, All            11:00 a.m.

  • What are the qualities we seek in an Administrator in order to properly position the organization to advance these priorities?

 

 

IV.    Proposed next steps and timeline        Felicia Brabec, All            11:45 a.m.

  • Given the leadership qualities sought by the Board, how shall we proceed in selecting the next County Administrator?
  • Presented for consideration: Three draft timelines that could be applicable

 

 

V.    Governance structure                Andy LaBarre, All            12:30 p.m.

  • Introduction to the concept of hiring an elected County Executive, per Act 139
  • Consider responding to the concept using this construct: I like… I wish… What if?
  • Note where more information is needed
