A.  Economic Development

1.    Office of Community and Economic Development 

a.  Workforce Investment Act Statewide Activities Funding for Jobs, Education and Training Program

  • Ratifying the submission of the budget
  • To the Workforce Development Agency, State of Michigan
  • For the period of October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012
  • To provide Orientation and Client Assesment, Job Search/Job Readiness, and Other Employment and Training Services to eligible TANF recipients
  • OCED has created a service delivery model that allows it to serve steady numbers of clients, despite declining revenue
  • The total number of participants will depend on the number of referrals from the Department of Human Services
  • For a total program of $61,026
    - Federal Revenue: $61,026
    - County Match: $0
  • Indirect costs are not included in this grant
  • Upon receipt of the award:
    -Authorizing the Administrator to sign the Notice of Grant Award
    - Amending the budget
    - Authorizing the Administrator to sign delegate contracts

RECOMMENDATION: Approval

b.  The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) (Application)

  • Ratifying the signature of the County Administrator on the agreement
  • To the Michigan Department of Education
  • For the period of October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012
  • To provide emergency food and nutrition assistance to 2,600 low income residents of Washtenaw County per quarter
  • Residents with incomes up to 200% of Poverty ($44,000 for a family of four) are eligible to receive food
  • Funding is provided to coordinate food orders and deliveries between local agencies and food pantries that directly serve the public
  • For a total program of $51,383
    - Federal Revenue: $51,383
    - County Match: $0
  • Indirect costs are not included in this grant
  • Upon receipt of the award:
    - Authorizing the Administrator to sign the Notice of Grant Award
    - Amending the budget
    - Authorizing the Administrator to sign delegate contracts
