Never Quit Quitting Program

  • Ratifying the Administrators signature on the grant application
  • To the March of Dimes, Michigan Chapter
  • For the period of 1/1/2007 to 12/31/2007
  • To educate health care providers and their support staff about smoking cessation resources for women of child-bearing age
  • To improve health outcomes for infants in Washtenaw County
  • For a total program of $12,023:
    -Revenue: $12,023
    -Match: $0
    -Indirect Costs: $0
  • Upon receipt of the award:
    -Authorizing the Administrator to sign the Notice of Grant Award
    -Amending the budget
    -Authorizing the Administrator to sign delegate contracts

Public Safety and Justice Community of Interest

Sheriff

Annual Secondary Road Patrol Program

  • Ratifying the Chair of the Boards signature on the grant application
  • To State of Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning
  • For the period of 10/1/2006 to 9/30/2007
  • To provide additional road patrol on secondary roads and in state and county parks
  • To support personnel costs for 3.0 FTE deputy positions plus vehicle and operating expenses
  • For a total program of $303,048:
    -Revenue: $303,048
    -Match: $0
    -Indirect Costs: $14,431
  • Upon receipt of the award:
    -Authorizing the Administrator to sign the Notice of Grant Award
    -Amending the budget
    -Authorizing the Administrator to sign delegate contracts

Planning and Environment Community of Interest

Planning and Environment

1. Partnerships for Change Grant

  • Ratifying the Administrators signature on the grant agreement
  • To the Land Information Access Association (LIAA)
  • For the period of 9/13/2006 to 9/12/2007
  • To achieve the five goals of the Southwest Washtenaw Council of Governments (Village of Manchester, and Townships of Bridgewater, Freedom, Manchester and Sharon, and Manchester Public Schools) regional plan
  • The Southwest Washtenaw Council of Governments have requested that Washtenaw County assume the lead agency role to manage the grant agreement and serve as fiduciary on their behalf
  • For a total program of $45,000:
    -Revenue: $30,000
    -Match: $15,000 (cash; $10,000 from Planning & Environment and $1,000 each from the five local units)
    -Indirect Costs: $0

RECOMMENDATION: Approval at the Board

2. Lessons from the Land High School Curriculum and Teacher Education Initiative

  • Ratifying the Administrators signature on the grant agreement
  • To the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan
  • For the period of 1/1/2007 to 12/31/2007
  • To apply to the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan for funding on behalf of Creative Change Educational Solutions (CCES); and if successful, serve as fiduciary agent and contract with CCES to develop the expanded curriculum.
  • To expand the Lessons from the Land curriculum beyond Washtenaw County to educators and students in southeast Michigan
  • Lessons from the Land was developed in partnership with CCES to provide a rigorous high school curriculum module focused on land use and sustainability in Washtenaw County to educate students about land use issues
  • For a total program of $36,267:
    -Revenue: $18,007
    -Match: $18,260 (CCES is securing from other southeast Michigan agencies, that is, from Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, Michigan Suburbs Alliance, Washtenaw Intermediate School District, and CCES)
    -Indirect Costs: $0
