Insurance Renewals

  • Accepting quotes for insurance coverages
  • For the period of 10/1/06 to 9/30/07
  • To provide coverage for (1) property, (2), general liability, (3) police liability, (4) auto liability, (5) boiler and machinery, (6) crime, (7) public officials, (8) fiduciary liability, (9) underground storage tanks, (10) lawyers professional, (11) judicial liability and (12) medical professional
  • Arthur J. Gallagher as the insurance provider for Washtenaw County
  • Approving insurance carriers Chubb Insurance Company, Genesis Insurance Company, Great American Insurance Company, Zurich Insurance Company, Underwriters at Lloyds, London , and Hudson Insurance Company
  • In the amount of $974,235, an increase of $40,833 versus 2005-06 costs
  • Costs are covered within the 2007 budget

  • For the period of 10/1/06 to 9/30/07
  • For the purpose of approving the 2006-07 Public Health budget in the amount of $8,896,643
  • No net change in the number of positions
  • Eliminate one (1) 1.0 FTE Management Analyst I/II position:

  • Eliminate one (1) 1.0 FTE Registered Dietician position:

  • Approving the annual agreement between Environmental Health and Public Health
  • Authorizing the Administrator to sign the delegate contracts

Public Awareness Environmental Video Production Grant

  • Ratifying the submission of the electronic application
  • To the James A. and Faith Knight Foundation
  • For the period of 1/1/2007 to 1/1/2008
  • For producing environmental education videos to be posed on the Countys website
  • By developing five four minute environmental education videos on a range of topics, which demonstrate the integration effort at Zeeb Rd, such as how to clean up a small mercury spill, the hazards of home toxics, controlling mosquitoes to prevent West Nile, the need to control invasive species, and the best management practices for surface water quality
  • For a total program of $26,638:
    -Revenue: $20,000
    -Match: $6,638 (in-kind)
    -Indirect Costs: $0
  • Upon receipt of the award:
    -Authorizing the Administrator to sign the Notice of Grant Award
    -Amending the budget
    -Authorizing the Administrator to sign delegate contracts

  1. Office of Community Development

Management Services for the Community Development Unit

  • Authorizing the Administrator to sign contract with the City of Ann Arbor
  • For the period of 10/1/2006 to 9/30/2008
  • To renew the partnership contract with the City of Ann Arbor to provide management services and to provide office space for the Office of Community Development
  • A revenue contract in the amount of $93,560 per year, or $187,120 over the term of the Contract

RECOMMENDATION: Approval at the Board meeting

Childrens Well-Being Community of Interest

Head Start

Program Improvement Supplemental Grant

  • Ratifying the Signature of the County Administrator on the Application
  • To the US Department of Health and Human Services
  • For the period of 8/1/2005 to 7/31/2006
  • To equip space for developmentally disabled children at two delegate sites (Ann Arbor and Whitmore Lake) with equipment to development motor skills
  • For a total program of $31,250:
    -Revenue: $25,000
    -Match: $6,250 (in-kind from Head Start delegates)
    -Indirect Costs: $0
  • Upon receipt of the award:
    -Authorizing the Administrator to sign the Notice of Grant Award
    -Amending the budget
    -Authorizing the Administrator to sign delegate contracts

Office of the Administrator

1. Jail Population Manager

  • Creating a 1.0 FTE Jail Population Manager position:
    -Grade 31, Group 32
    -Salary Range: $50,381 - $74,576
  • To develop and implement effective policies and practices for managing the inmate population in the Washtenaw County Jail
  • In collaboration with the Criminal Justice Collaborative Council (CJCC), Sheriffs Office, Courts, Community Corrections, County Administration, Board of Commissioners

RECOMMENDATION: Approval at the Board

2. Attorney Fees for Public Safety & Justice Issues

  • Re-approving and ratifying the Countys hiring of Dykema, Gossett, PLLC
  • To represent the County on public safety & justice issues
